We had a wonderful stay, met 2 really nice couple that were also staying. The hosts were wonderful and made an excellent breakfast. We also enjoyed dinner at LaBinnah Bistro that was recommended by our hosts.
Where else can you stay INSIDE a museum! Absolute true to 1900's amenities, this is not simply a "stay", but an experience! Juan & Warren are attentive and gracious hosts, and join guests for Wine & cheese on the porch each evening. Breakfasts are gourmet and HUGE!.. Served in decadent surroundings with beautiful appointments!
If you can, this is a MUST stay for responsible adults.
Words can't describe how breathtaking this piece of history is. The work that has already been done to restore this work of art is exceptional. The owner has taken the time to research every part of the property making the tour very fascinating. I can't wait to go back and see the progress made on the exterior restoration. Highly recommend for anyone who loves history, art, and architectural masterpieces.
Do your self and your significant other a favor and step back in time at Rockcliffe Mansion. It's like no other place - the experience allows one to see this authentic in every detail turn of the century treasure of a mansion. This was a life changing experience. I now aspire to buy and restore, nurture a location like this one. It has been excellent, incredible, and can't wait to go back. I felt like it was an incredible tour, and knowledgeable owners treated like family outstanding thanks so much!
Beautiful mansion of a by gone era. Finished in 1902 it was lived in until the twenties. Then it was abandoned until the 60s. Continually under renovation as upkeep on the outside the inside is beautiful and 99percent original to the house. Tours happen every day but stay there if you can. The owners allow guests to wander through the house and will gladly answer your questions.
Warren kept me thoroughly intrigued the whole tour. There was so much to cover, yet he did an excellent job hitting the high points. I've seen many old mansions, Biltmore, Newport mansions, etc. This rivaled them all. Somehow the furniture was much more interesting than I have found in others. I believe seeing some wear and tear made you feel the presence of the Cruikshanks more so than models. The old photos and art were also fascinating. Worth the admission, which is helping a very hardworking couple renovate the home.
We were there for the tour and really enjoyed it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the home and grounds.
They have done a wonderful job of refurbishing the property.
Very nice.
The photo of this historic mansion online is a computer image of what it will look like someday(?), but looks more like the photo below in real life, this is blatant deception. The "couple" running it were knowledgeable enough for a tour by Juan but the other guy was a bit autistic and rigid(recovering lawyer). Wine and cheese and Breakfast were top notch, but overall experience was a bit creepy. Be prepared to walk up three long flights of stairs to get to the room, which was underwhelming, with a small loud A/C window unit keeping us up most of the night in a creaky old double bed. Not worth $200 a night for us. They best stick with day tours until they finish restoring this diamond in the rough.
